The Junior Golf Western Kickoff was contested under the most ideal and beautiful Colorado weather one could imagine.
In the Boys 16-18 division, Sterling Clark of Salt Lake City,UT, ran away with the title with a brilliant 67 for a two day total of 137. Sterling said his round was possible because he had a "hot putter all day long." Mark Volk of Highlands Ranch, CO 71 (143) edged Colin Corrigan of St. Louis, Mo 70 (144) and first round leader Brandon Harkins of Walnut Creek,CA 75 (144) by shooting a final round 71 to gain second by one shot.
The Boys 13-15 division was captured by Zach Zaremba of Pueblo, CO with a very strong 70 (143) finish. Zaremba was given a run for his money by Branden Barron of Aurora, CO 73 (147) and Travis Moore of El Paso, TX 73 (147).
The Boys 11-12 division was secured by Cody Kent of Castle Rock, CO with a 86 (168). Second place was captured by Andrew Beck of Albuquerque, NM with an 88 (187).
The Girls 13-18 division was a closely contested match with Karen Wanerdorfer of Colorado Springs, CO 79 (158) coming out on top. Karen was chased by second place finisher Katie Kempter of Albuquerque, NM 80 (159) and third place winner Sarah Ruybalid of Pueblo, CO 80 (160).
