The Junior Golf Western Kickoff at Green Valley Ranch in Denver, Colorado, was played under ideal conditions. The contestants had blue skies and sunshine with a slight breeze. The same is expected for tomorrow’s final round.
The Boys 16-18 division featured a very solid 3 under 69 by Brandon Harkins of Walnut Creek, CA. He is being closely pursued by Sterling Clark of Salt Lake City, UT who fired a fine 70. Only three shots back at 72 are Kody Capps of Highlands Ranch, CO, Michael Schnegelbrger of Olathe, KS and Mark Volk of Highlands Ranch, CO. The final day should prove to be very interesting and exciting.
The Boys 13-15 division is also a very tight contest after the first round. Zach Zaremba of Pueblo, CO heads the pack at 73. On his heels, at 74, are Brandon Barron of Aurora, CO and Travis Moore of El Paso, TX.
The Boys 11-12 division is led by Cody Kent of Castle Rock, CO, with a steady 82.
The Girls 13-18 division is deadlocked at the top with Katie Kempter of Albuquerque, NM and Karen Wanersdorfer of Colorado Springs,CO at 79. Sarah Ruybalid of Pueblo, CO is only one shot back at 80.
