Seventeen year old senior, Jason Kahn of Huntingdon Valley, PA, was in with the early lead after shooting a 3 over par 74 on Saturday at the Back Creek GC.  The sun was shining, but the wind was blowing.  With gusts up to 25 mph, ball control was of the essence.  Shortly thereafter he was joined by another senior Warren West of Chestertown, MD. who made 2 birdies in the middle of his round on 18 and 1.  Their lead was to be short-lived.  Thirteen year old Michael Cromie of Cary, NC, fired a round of one over par 72 to quickly rearrange the leaderboard as Brian Creghan of Radnor, PA, another senior, and Scott Juhl of Springfield, VA (2007) joined Kahn and West at 74.  Cromie, playing in his first FCWT event, teed it up at 8:54 am off #10 and played his game.  The 5' 6" 13 year old may have had a case of nerves on the first 2 holes, but quickly got in the groove with 4 pars in a row then a birdie on #16 before finishing that nine with 2 more pars.  He bogeyed #1 after making the turn, then made 2 birdies on #2 and 5 and only one more bogey before bringing it in at 1 over par on this 6612 yard, par 71 course.

In a four-way tie for sixth are:  Cory Siegfried of Villanova, PA (2008), Devin Kay of Bethesda, MD (2006), Donnie Shin of Columbia, MD (2007), and 15 year old Ryan May of Auburn, NY (2008).  Keep an eye on May tomorrow as his older brother, David, is a former FCWT All-American and now is a freshman at Clemson.  Just one stroke back of May and only four shots out of the lead are:  Grant Gaugler III of Levittown, PA, 2008, Chip Culp of Philadelphia, PA, 2008 and Robert Robertson of Philadelphia, PA, 2008.

In the boys 11-12 division, Jay Pinkos of Clifton, VA (2011) leads Sean Kelly of Staten Island, NY (2011) by 4 strokes.  Pinkos carded a round of 77 on Saturday that included a birdie on #6.  Kelly, who won at Duke last season, leads John Reali of Searingtown, NY, 2011.    In the Girls division, Megan Leineweber, a senior from Baltimore, MD, leads 17 strokes.
