Senior Brad Nicholson of Chandler, AZ, opened the ASU Jr. Golf Classic with a round of 3 under par 69.  Nicholson led the Boys 16-18 division with 6 birdies on the day.  He leads Michael Garden of Scottsdale, AZ (2007), Chase Hite of Tucson, AZ (2006) and Steven Schmid of Pewaukee, WI (2006) by one stroke.  Four players are tied for 5th at -1:  Jed Dirksen of Coral Gables, FL (2007), Josh Anderson of Murrieta, CA (2007), Jeff Grant of Coto de Caza, CA (2006), and Ben Klaus of Edmond, OK (2007).  Tyler McDougall of E. Wenatchee, WA (2007) and Matthew Stratton of Littleton, CO (2007) are tied for 9th.

In the 13-15 division, Trent Sanders of Scottsdale, AZ (2008), fired a 4 under par round on Saturday and leads by 8 strokes going into the final round.  Four players are tied for 2nd place at 4 over par:  Blake Brown of Scottsdale, AZ (2008), Mitch Carlson of Overland Park, KS (2008), Matthew Hamilton of West Vancouver, BC (2009), and Kevin Orniston of Snoqualmine, WA (2008).

Natalie Sheary of West Hartford, CT (2007) leads the girls division after opening with a round of even par.  Thirteen year old Kaira Martin of Paradise Valley, AZ (2011) and Nicole Schachner of Libertyville, IL (2006) are tied for second at +2.  Ashley McKenney is in 4th place after one round with a score of 78 and Katie Sisler of Hawaii is in 5th place at +7.
