Karle fires final round of 68 to earn first FCWT win of the season

The reigning FCWT Girls National Champion, 15 year old Taylore Karle of Scottsdale, AZ, won her first FCWT event of the 2005-06 season at the Mission Hills Junior Golf Invitational  Taylore opened Saturday's round with a 3 over par 73, that included 2 birdies.  On Sunday, she fired a two-under par round of 68 with only one bogey on the day.  She entered Sunday's final round with a 2 stroke lead over senior Bethany Leclair, also of Scottsdale, AZ,  but expanded that lead to 7 strokes on her way to her win.  Miss Leclair earned her third top 5 finish of the season with her 2nd place finish.  She previously finished 3rd at Notre Dame and T5 last weekend at ASU.  An eagle on Sunday on the par 4 6th hole, allowed Danielle Kang to finish tied for 3rd with Danielle Frasier of Encinitaz, CA (2010), who led the girls division in birdies on Saturday with 3 and has already won on the FCWT this season at Tucson.  Miss Kang finished tied with Miss Karle for the most birdies for the event with 5 each.  Maria Angelica Villareal finished in 5th place, one place higher than her previous finish at the FCWT Tucson event over Thanksgiving.

In the Boys 13-15 division, Danny Cacho of Fairfield, CA (2008) carded two rounds of 71 and 7 birdies to earn his first FCWT win!  Previously Cacho's best finish was a 2nd place at FCWT Temecula in the 2004-05 season.  Fourteen year old Parker Houston of Rancho Santa Fe, CA (2010) began the day in a tie for 4th and 6 strokes back.  Houston made a valiant effort at catching Cacho with a Low Round of 69, the only sub-par round in this division.  While he did not catch Cacho this time, Houston did capture second place by one stroke over Cameron Tennant of Woodland Hills, CA (2008). Tennant's rounds of 72-75 allowed him to finish 4 strokes ahead of Ford Fischer of Plano, TX (2009).

In the boys 11-12 division, Luke Vivolo of Carmel, CA (2011) earned his first FCWT victory of the 2005-06 with rounds 71-72-143.  Vivolo's 3 over par for the event put him 7 strokes ahead of  Kyle Bowser of Danville, CA (2012)Bowser earned his second 2nd place finish of the season and finished ahead of Jay Lim of Stevenson Ranch, CA (2011).  Previously, Lim finished 2nd to Bowser's 3rd at the FCWT Escena event earlier this month.  Vivolo carded 5 birdies for the event, while Lim had 3 and Bowser had 2.

On Saturday, David Hahn, winner of the FCWT Sun Devil event in November took the first round lead at the Mission Hills Junior Golf Invitational.  Hahn of Henderson, NV (2007) fired an opening round of 4 under par that included 7 birdies to lead this division.  He led Chris Cho of San Diego, CA (2007) and Dustin Rhone of Culver City, CA (2008) by 2 strokes going into Sunday's final round.  On Sunday, Dustin fired a round of 3 under par 67 while Hahn struggled.  But Rhone wasn't going to walk away with the win that easily.  Geoff Gonzalez of Diablo, CA (2006), fired the Low Round of the day with a 4 under par 66, including an eagle on #6, resulting in a tie with Rhone for the lead at the end of 36 holes of play.  They went to #15 for the playoff and Rhone chipped it in for birdie and the win!  Finishing in 3rd place and carding the most birdies for the event with 12 was Grant Doverspike of Bakersfield, CA (2006), who won at Bear Creek West.  Chris Cho of San Diego, CA (2007) finished in 4th place with rounds of 68-71.
