Thirteen year old Hannah Yun of Bradenton, FL (2010), came back "home" to play and is leading the field at the Bayonet Jr. Golf Invitational.  Miss Yun, who was born in San Jose, CA, has won three times this winter on the FCWT in Florida where she currently resides.  She is looking for an unprecedented 4th win.  Her opening round of 6 over 78 gives her a one stroke lead over FCWT newcomer Rachel Ann Sibbitt of Mill Valley, CA (2007)Miss Sibbitt leads a threesome currently tied for 3rd at 81:  Alexis Holmes of Lincoln, NE (2008), winner of the Far Oaks event, FCWT newcomer Alexandra Stewart of Oak Grove, CA (2010) and Tessa The of Los Altos, CA (2010), who finished T6 at Mission Hills in December.  The girls will tee it up for the final round of 18 holes on Sunday.

The weather was fabulous in Northern California for the opening round of The Bayonet Junior Golf Invitational. Sunny skies and calm winds allowed the field of 86 players to shoot some great numbers on the very difficult, tight and "tricky greened" golf course.  Of this course, Jack Nicklaus said "Number 4 on Bayonet is the toughest par 5 in golf."  Senior Thomas Buran of Scottsdale, AZ, fired an opening round of 2 under par and will lead by one entering the Sunday's final round.  Buran, who finished T11 at Grayhawk will be looking for his first FCWT win.  Eighteen year old Thomas had 5 birdies on the day which tied him for the most in this division with Conrad Shindler of Coppell, TX (2007) and Geoff Gonzalez of Diablo, CA (2006) who are tied for 2nd place with David Lipsky of La Canada, CA (2006)Shindler, the 2005 FCWT Central Region Player of the Year, has two Top 5s already this season, but is lacking the win he has achieved for each of the past two seasons.  Gonzalez, who finished in 2nd place at the Mission Hills Invitational, is greatly improved over last season when he finished T45 with rounds of 77-80-157 at this event.  Lipsky, who finished T48 here last season after an opening round of 84, was really looking forward to the opportunity to get back here and get a few of those strokes back from the golf course - he accomplished that goal today.

Four players will begin the final round at even par (72):  Jack Paton of Hillsborough, CA (2007), Taylor Coffman of San Diego, CA (2006), Ryan Hallisey of Granite Bay, CA (2006), who carded one of 2 eagles on the day, and James Dalthorp III of Rancho Park, CA (2006)Seventeen year old Josh Anderson of Murietta, CA (2007), who carded the only other eagle in this division, is in 9th place at +1.  Three players are T10 at 74 (+2):  Zack Kanny of Ventura, CA (2007), Bryan Sheridan of Rancho Santa Fe, CA (2007), and Gregor Main, the 2005 FCWT 13-15 Player of the Year, from Danville, CA (2008).  Sixteen players are within 5 shots of the lead with 18 holes left to play.

In the Boys 13-15 division, Sam Smith of Turlock, CA (2009) leads by 3 strokes after opening with a solid round of 72 even par.  While there were no eagles in this division, Sam led the way in birdies with 4.  He has a 3 stroke advantage over Brian O'Regan of Walnut Creek, CA (2009) and Matt Rawitzer of Bellingham, WA (2009) going into Sunday's final round.  Eduardo Chavez of Hillsborough, CA (2010) is in 4th place at +4 (76) while James Albert of San Bernardino, CA (2009) and Parker Houston of Rancho Santa Fe, CA (2010) are tied for 5th at 77 (+5).
