Daniel Mollicone of Rhode Island is trying to earn his second FCWT win of the season. Mollicone, who won the season opener at Notre Dame, carded the low round on Saturday at the Cog HIll event with a one-over par 73. This field of 57 boys stacked up right behind him. Three players are at +2: Samuel Chavez of Hillsborough, CA and regional players Cole Turner and Adam Hogue. In a tie for 5th are Bentley Eidsmo of Monterrey, CA, and Dustin Koth of BLoomington, IL both at 75 (+3). Four players round out the top 10 at 76 (+4) and are tied for 7th: Peter Haller of Winnetka, IL; Richie Burke of Madison, WI, Ross MIllman of St. Louis, MO and Cody Paladino of Kensington, CT.
But with this field, you must look beyond the Top 10. In a tie for 11th are Adam Long, who is headed for Duke next year, Nicholas Marshall of Grand Ledge, MI; Trevor Carle (another Californian) who is here visiting Northwestern and Kelly Kretz of Antigo, WI. FCWT newcomer Derek Newman is only 5 shots back of Mollicone as is Charles Sowers of Lake Forest, IL, both T15 at 78 (+6).
In the 11-12 divison, Bailey Truesdell took the opening round lead with an 89 while Michael Inzano of Burr Ridge and Austin Rendell of Winnetka are battling it out for 2nd place with only 2 strokes between them.
In the 13-15 division, Shawn Steurer posted a 3 over par 75 to lead by 3 strokes over Bradley George. Landon Tujague is one stroke back of George in 3rd. Michael Chudacoff is in 4th at (+8) and Ryan Blair of NE rounds out the Top 5 with +9 (81).
In the Girls Division, we see a flip-flop of the Notre Dame event. Ellen Mueller is leading after an opening round of 76 over the winner of the Notre Dame event Aimee Neff. Neff is 5 shots back at 81. FCWT newcomer Abby Cotter is in 3rd with a round of 84. In a T4 are Maureen Liddy and Brittany Rendell at 88. |
