For the first time this season, the FCWT is pleased to present the Girls 11-13 division. In the TPC Las Colinas event, Ashley Armstrong of Flossmoor, IL (2011) leads 12 year old Sydney Wilson of Frisco, TX (2011) after one round of play. Miss Armstrong had one birdie on the day on #17 along with 3 pars while Miss Wilson had 2 pars of her own. The girls will return to the course for the final round on Friday. After the New Year there are several FCWT events with a girls 11-13 division. We look forward to seeing more play from this division! The TPC Las Colinas Invitational started off with a two hour Frost Delay which resulted in a 10:00am Shotgun start at the Las Colinas Course in Irving, Texas. With temperatures in the 40's and a wind chill in the 30s due to 10 mph winds, pars and birdies were tough to find even with the sun shining. Despite the weather conditions, sixteen year old Geoffrey Shaw of Edmond, OK (2008) carded a round of even par (71) on this course - the home of the Byron Nelson Classic. Shaw stayed out of trouble carding 2 birdies and only 2 bogeys on a day when the wind played havoc with some players shots. Shaw finished 3rd at Bear Creek earlier this season. He leads junior Eric Stapars of Southlake, TX, by 2 strokes entering Friday's final round. In third place is senior Mike Greene of Overland Park, KS at +3. Three players are tied for 4th: Aaron McNeal of Cushing, OK (2006), Joseph Ida of Fort Scott, KS (2006) and Benjamin Porter of Kearney, NE (2006). McNeal's best finish so far this season is T5; Ida's is T19 and Porter's is T12. Junior Conrad Shindler of Coppell, TX (2007), who was an FCWT 1st team All-American in 2005, is in 7th place and Klinton Krieger of Cheyenne, WY (2007), who has two Top 5 finishes so far this season, and Stephen Carney of Tulsa, OK, who finished 2nd at Bear Creek, are tied for 8th at 77 (+6). Six players are T10 at +7. In the boys 13-15 division, Tyler Downing of Sturgis, MI (2009), winner of the FCWT Far Oaks event, is leading by 1 stroke over Ford Fischer of Plano, TX (2009), who finished 4th at Mission Hills last weekend. Landon Tujague of Dallas, TX (2009) is in third place at +8 (79). In the boys 11-12 division, 11 year old Preston Standley of Dallas, TX (2012), leads 12 year old Calvin Dorsey of Denver, CO (2012) by 3 strokes. |
