Grant Doverspike earns his second FCWT win of the season! After the cancellation of play on Wednesday due to inclement weather, the opening round of the Coyote Creek Junior Golf Classic was played on Thursday at the Coyote Creek Golf Club - Valley Course. The event had to be shortened to 36 holes which were completed on Friday. Two FCWT veterans, both seniors, Nicolas Podesta of Yuba City, CA and Grant Doverspike of Bakersfield, CA, began the final round of the Coyote Creek event in a tie for the lead after each firing an opening round of 2 under par. Podesta had 5 birdies on Thursday to lead this division while Doverspike had three birdies. On Friday, Doverspike added 3 more birdies to his total (6) and passed Podesta to lead the division in birdies along with Matthew Miller and Francis Santiago. Doverspike, who won the Bear Creek event in November and came in third at the Mission Hills Invitational just two weeks ago, carded a final round of 73, one over par, to win by 3 strokes over Podesta. The Low Round honors went to Levi Garcia of Paso Robles, CA (2006), who began the day in a tie for 10th place after an opening round of 76, and Ryan Hallisey of Granite Bay, CA (2006), who wasn't even in the Top 10 at the end of round one, for their final rounds of even par 72. Garcia's low round allowed him to finish tied for 3rd place with Matthew Miller, who like Doverspike had 6 birdies for the event - 5 of his came during the final round; Hallisey finished in 5th. In the boys 13-15 division, three players began the final round tied for the lead.
