Hunter Ranch is a new venue on the FCWT this season, but the names at the top of the leaderboard are very familiar.  Senior Grant Doverspike of Bakersfield, CA, opened with a round of even par to lead all scores in the Boys 16-18 division, but close behind is senior Geoff Gonzalez of Diablo, CADoverspike has two wins already this season at Bear Creek West and Coyote Creek.  Gonzalez, currently ranked # 31 in the country by Golfweek/Titleist, is coming off a recent win at the FCWT Bayonet Invitational.  Gonzalez also finished 2nd at the other FCWT West Coast Invitational - Mission Hills.  Gonzalez who will start one stroke back of Doverspike, will have a one stroke advantage over 3rd place player Clark Granum of San Diego, CA (2007), the only player to card an eagle in the opening round.  Senior Ben Wescoe of La Jolla, CA, Graham Kent of Lynden, WA (2007), and David Cunningham of Park City, UT (2007) will begin the final round tied for 4th at +3 (75). 

In the 13-15 division, Cory McElyea of Santa Cruz, CA (2010) leads all scores with a round of 73 (+1).  McElyea, who won at Coyote Creek, recently finished T5 at Bayonet.  In a tie for 2nd at +4 are Matt Rawitzer of Bellingham, WA (2009) and Sam Smith of Turlock, CA (2009)Rawitzer won at Turkey Creek and Smith won at Bayonet.

In the Boys 11-12 division, 11 year old Jay Burlison of Salinas, CA (2013), leads all scores after opening with a round of +6 78.  Burlison, who previously won at Teal Bend, led this division in birdies with 3.  He leads FCWT newcomer 11 year old Michael Decker of Pebble Beach, CA by one stroke.  Kraig McLeod of Pebble Beach, CA (2012), who won at both Castle Ridge and Escena, is in 3rd place.

After one round of play at the Hunter Ranch Jr. Golf Classic two sophomores Diane Kwon of Fremont, CA, and Sydney Burlison of Salinas, CA, are tied for the lead at +4.  Miss Burlison won the Bermuda Run event in November and Miss Kwon is playing in her first FCWT event of the season.  They lead Ariana Patterson of Carmel, CA (2009) by 4 strokes going into Sunday's final round.  One stroke back of Miss Patterson is 14 year old Alexandra Stewart of Elk Grove, CA (2010).  Miss Stewart led this division in birdies with 3 on the day.  In a tie for 5th place at 84 are Amber Hensley of Tulsa, OK (2007) and Stephanie Yocum of Palos Verdes Estates, CA (2006).
