Looking for a V
Victoria Kiser of Orlando, FL (2010) fired an incredible round of 5 under par 66 to lead all scores in the opening round of the TPC Tampa Bay Open. She will be looking for her first Victory of the season as she heads into Sunday's final round. Tori won two events last season and was named an FCWT All-American. Her 7 birdies led this division and allow her a 5 stroke advantage over FCWT newcomer Cyna Rodriguez of Monilla, PHILIPPINES (2009). Miss Rodriguez carded a solid round of even par on Saturday and will start Sunday's round two strokes ahead of another FCWT All-American, Marika Lendl of Bradenton, FL (2008). Miss Lendl is a 5th year player and has won at least one FCWT each of the last 4 years. She is currently ranked in the Top 30 girls in the Golfweek/Titleist rankings. Thirteen year old Ginger Howard also of Bradenton (2012), is holding her own and will start the final round in 4th place at +4. Daniela Lendl (2011), younger sister of Marika, will start tied for 5th with Jessica Alexander of Riverview, FL (2009). Watch for Yueer Feng of Orlando, FL (2014). Miss Feng, the 2006-07 FCWT Girls Player of Promise is only 11, but holds her own out here. She will start in a tie for 6th place at +7 with FCWT All-American Stephanie Kim of Bayside, NY (2009).
The Future Collegians World Tour 2007-2008 season is now underway. Eighty-six players began the day in Tampa, FL, for the first round of the TPC Tampa Bay Open.

In the Boys 16-18 division, Connor Arendell of Cape Coral, FL (2008) took the early lead by firing a one-under par 70. Arendell, an FCWT All-American, carded 4 birdies on the day, giving him a 2 shot advantage over Derek Baade of St. Joseph, MO (2009) and Chun Hung Chan (2009). Baade carded 4 birdies on his way to a one over par round of 72 while Chan had a near perfect round carding only 1 bogey with his 17 pars. Five players are tied for 4th place at +2. FCWT newcomer Oscar Sharpe of Norwich, ENGLAND (2010) led this division in birdies with 5 on his way to a 73. FCWT veteran player Craig Stevenson of Sarasota, FL (2008), carded the only eagle in this division to get to 73. Stanislav Matus of Roznov, CZECH REPUBLIC (2008) had 16 pars on the day for his 73, while another senior, Kyle Klempner of Saddle River, FL had 3 birdies for his 73. Sixteen year old Shang Zhi (2010) was the final member of the group at 73. Four players are tied for 9th at 74, 4 strokes back of our leader.
The early leader in the Boys 13-15 division was Blake Morris of Waterbury, CT (2011). Morris posted a solid round of even par 71 with 3 birdies and 3 bogeys. Morris had two 2nd place finishes last season, but will be looking to win as he heads into Sunday's round. Morris will have to hold off FCWT newcomer Andrew Gain who carded 2 birdies and 2 bogeys to post his own round of 71. Gain tied with Torrance for most pars on the day with 14. The two co-leaders will have a one stroke advantage over another FCWT newcomer Taylor Bolton-Harvey of Englewood, CO (2010) who led this division in birdies with 5 and will start the final round in 3rd place at 72. FCWT veteran Nicholas Torrance of East Lyme, CT (2010) will begin in 4th place on Sunday followed by another FCWT newcomer Philip North of Hilton Head, SC (2010) who is only 4 strokes back of the leaders at 75.
In the Boys 11-12 division, eleven year old Corey Carlson of Greencovesprings, FL (2015) carded 1 birdie and 9 pars on his way to the first round lead. Carlson, an FCWT newcomer, has a 3 stroke advantage over another FCWT newcomer, Daniel Jaramillo of Medellin, COLOMBIA (2014). Jaramillo had 1 birdie and 7 pars for his round of 81. John Morrissey of White Plains, NY (2013) will start in 3rd place, 2 strokes back of Jaramillo. |
