FCWT Veteran Robert Robertson of Philadelphia, PA (2008) carded a one over par 72 to open the French Creek Open in Elverson, PA. Robertson, a third year player, finished T4 at the Ace Club Open last weekend but will be looking for his first FCWT win on Sunday. He leads a threesome who are currently tied for 2nd by 2 strokes. Seventeen year old senior, Corey Muscara of Sayville, NY, is one of the players tied for 2nd. He finished T14 last weekend, but is looking to improve that. Muscara, along with Robertson and Preston Fielding (who is also tied for 2nd) led the division in birdies on Saturday with 4. Fielding, a junior from Los Angeles, CA, is a first year player playing in his first FCWT event. The third player tied for second is Daniel Walker of Earlysville, VA (2009). Walker, a second year FCWT player, was named an FCWT All-American last season after winning the Yankee Trace Open in April 2007. Three more players are tied for 5th at 75: Timothy Rosenhouse of Dix Hills, NY (2008), Austin Gray of Midlothian, VA (2008), and Danny Kim of Fairfax, VA (2008). Ross Sumner of Callao, VA (2008) and Parker Davis of Chadds Ford, PA (2008) are tied for 8th at 76, just 4 strokes back of our leader. Four players are tied for 10th at 77: Jeremy Wells of Prince George, VA (2009), Jimmy Johnston of Wayne, PA (2009), Brian Dorfman of Greenwood Village, CO (2010), and Cole Childs of Holliston, MA (2010), a third year FCWT player.
In the Boys 13-15 division, there are three players tied for the lead after round one: Ben Warnquist of Rockville, MD, (2011), is a 14 year old 2nd year FCWT player, Jerrell Parrish of Glenn Dale, MD (2010), is playing in his first FCWT event, and Patrick Rodgers of Avon, IN (2011), a second year player, who already has a win and a 2nd place finish this season. Warnquist led this division in birdies on Saturday with 4. Parrish, led this division in pars on Saturday with 13. Rodgers will be looking to become the first FCWT player to earn 2 wins in this division this season. The three will be paired together for the final round and will begin the day at 73 (+2), holding a 4 shot lead over 2 players who are currently tied for 4th. John Rosenberg of Devon, PA (2010) and Austin Nowak of Lancaster, NY (2011), both carded opening rounds of 77 and posted 3 birdies on the day. |
