Walker Waltzes to Victory with a final round 69

Daniel Walker of Earlysville, VA (2009), a second year FCWT player, fired a final round of 69 at the French Creek Open to earn his first FCWT win of the season.  Walker, who was named an FCWT All-American last season after winning the Yankee Trace Open in April 2007, began the day tied for 2nd with two other players after Saturday's round, but tied for the Low Round on Sunday with Ross Sumner of Callao, VA (2008) to finish at 143, one over par for the event and win by 2 strokes.  Walker carded 25 pars during the weekend's 36 hole event and posted rounds of 74-69, much improved over his results from a week prior at ACE Club where he struggled around 80.  Daniel is scheduled to be back in action the first weekend in November at Bermuda Run where he will look for his 2nd victory of the season.

For Sumner, who finished 4th last season at the Yankee Trace event that Walker won, it was an excellent final round; one that moved him from tied for 8th to sole possession of 2nd place.  His 7 birdies for the weekend tied him for the most in this division as well as helped him tie for Low Round with Walker.  Finishing tied for 3rd were Danny Kim of Fairfax, VA (2008), one of the other players to card 7 birdies on the weekend, and overnight leader FCWT Veteran Robert Robertson of Philadelphia, PA (2008).  Parker Davis of Chadds Ford, PA (2008), who began the day tied for 8th with Sumner, finished tied for 5th with Preston Fielding, a junior from Los Angeles, CA, playing in his first FCWT event, who also carded 7 birdies on the weekend.

After Saturday's round there were three players tied for the lead in the Boys 13-15 division: Ben Warnquist of Rockville, MD, (2011), a 14 year old 2nd year FCWT player, Jerrell Parrish of Glenn Dale, MD (2010), playing in his first FCWT event, and Patrick Rodgers of Avon, IN (2011), a second year player, who already had a win and a 2nd place finish this season.  On Sunday, Warnquist rose to the occasion, posted the lowest round of the 3 leaders and earned his first FCWT victory with rounds of 73-74 to finish at 147 (+5).

Parrish took home 2nd place while leading this division in birdies on the weekend with 7.  On Saturday he led in pars with 13.  Patrick Rodgers was looking to become the first FCWT player to earn 2 wins in this division this season, but that will wait for another day, his third top 3 in as many events, puts him at the top of the points standings in the Boys 13-15 division.  Geoff Vartelas of Cromwell, CT (2012) improved his second round by 10 strokes (from an 80 to a 70) and took home the Low Round Honors while finishing in 4th place just 3 back of the winner, in his first FCWT event.
