Dale drops 6 birdies to win first event of the season

FCWT All-American Sean Dale of Jacksonville, FL (2008) began the day quietly tied for 4th after an opening round of even par.  Six birdies later, he went out with a bang, winning his first FCWT event of the season.  Dale, a 4th year player who won at Champions Gate last season, led this division in birdies for the weekend with 10.  Despite his title-winning final round, he did not earn the Low Round honors.  That went to another FCWT All-American 14 year old John Boehme of Jacksonville Beach, FL (2012).  Boehme fired a final round of 3 under par on Sunday and finished in 2nd place, sandwiched between Dale and two players tied for 3rd.  An eagle on the par 5, 4th hole helped his final round efforts.  Two FCWT newcomers tied for third place honors:  Drew Mathews of Winter Haven, FL (2008) and Alex Dienes of Jacksonville, FL (2009)Jamey Salmon of Jacksonville, FL (2009) shot very solid rounds of 72-73 to finish in 5th place.

Wilson's 26 pars take him to the Boys 13-15 title

On Saturday, fifteen year old Chipper Hughes of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (2010), took the first round lead in the Boys 13-15 division with a round of +1, 73.  His 4 birdies tied Joshua Lee for the most in this division.  He began the final round with a one stroke advantage over Bailey Truesdell of Grand Blanc, MI (2012) and a three stroke advantage over two Wilsons:  Blake Wilson of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (2011) and Austin Wilson of Eden Prairie, MN (2011) who were at 76 (+4).  On Sunday, it was Austin who took home the title with rounds of 76-73 to finish one stroke ahead of Alex DiClemente of Burlington, CT (2010) who began the final round in 5th place at 77 (+5).  The round of the day went to 12 year old Joshua Lee of Orange Park, FL (2013)Lee, who was named the FCWT Boys Player of Promise last season, carded a final round of 68 and led this division in birdies with 11 for the event.  He moved from well down the leaderboard after an opening round of 83, to tied for 3rd place with overnight leader Hughes on Sunday, and only 2 strokes back of the winner.  A win is coming for him in this division, just keep watching!

Jaramillo's turn

Twelve year old Corey Carlson of Greencovesprings, FL (2015) started the final round looking for his 2nd win of the season.  In September, Carlson finished just ahead of Daniel Jaramillo of Medellin, COLOMBIA (2014) to win the TPC Tampa Bay Open.  Not so, this time.  Jaramillo, who began the final round one stroke back of Carlson, carded a final round of 73 to earn the Low Round honors and take home the title (this time).  He led this division in birdies with 5 and pars with 23.  Charles Padial of Jacksonville, FL (2014) finished in 3rd place after improving his final round score by 8 strokes.

Isabelle edges "sis" for the win

Senior Marika Lendl of Bradenton, FL, fired a 6 under par, 66 on Saturday and things were looking good for her to win her first event of the season.  She started the final round with a 4 stroke lead over her younger sister, Isabelle (2009), who opened with a round of 2 under par, despite a double bogey on # 17 on Saturday.  On Sunday, it was Marika who had a double bogey when she made a 5 on the par 3 15th hole.  Unfortunately for her, it cost her the win as Isabelle closed the gap and earned her first win of the season.  Isabelle had a very quiet opening nine holes as she played the back side with perfect pars.  But she made the turn and went birdie-par-par- birdie, only to hit a bump in the "fairway" making bogey on 5 and 7, but finished out with 2 pars - and a one stroke advantage over Marika.  Both Marika and Isabelle had 8 birdies for the event - tying them for the lead in that category.

Catherine O'Donnell of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (2008) finished in 3rd place at 145, after rounds of 72-73.  She led this division in pars with 25 for the event.  Brighid Hourihan of Ponte Vedra Beach (2009) finished in 4th place, 4 strokes back of O'Donnell while 13 year old Samantha Marks of Maitland, FL (2012) posted a final round of 75 to finish tied for 5th with Meghan Green of Jacksonville, FL (2008).

Twelve year old Marianna Zanghetti of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (2013) carded rounds of 90-91 in the Girls 11-14 division to earn her first FCWT win.
