Michael Marshburn of Cary, NC (2009), fired a 3 under par 69 in the opening round of the Boys 16-18 division at the FCWT World Golf Village Open. It was a very nice day in St. Augustine, FL, with the sun shining and temperatures in the low 70s. Marshburn led the division in birdies with 6 for his opening round. After finishing just outside the Top 20 last weekend, Marshburn will look to win on Sunday when he starts the final round with a 2 stroke lead over Cory Crump of Peachtree City, GA (2008), and Joseph Marino of Weston, FL (2008).

Four players finished at even par and will start the final round tied for 4th: Sean Dale of Jacksonville, FL (2008), Jamey Salmon of Jacksonville, FL (2009), Gregory Della-Pietra of Stuart, FL (2008) and Mike Smith of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (2008). His 4 birdies tied Joshua Lee for the most in this division. He will have a one stroke advantage over Bailey Truesdell of Grand Blanc, MI (2012) heading into the final round. Two Wilsons are tied for 3rd place: Blake Wilson of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (2011) and Austin Wilson of Eden Prairie, MN (2011) are both at 76 (+4). Twelve year old Corey Carlson of Greencovesprings, FL (2015) will be looking for his 2nd win of the season on Sunday as he leads the Boys 11-12 division. He will have to bring his "A" game to hold off Daniel Jaramillo of Medellin, COLOMBIA (2014), who is just one stroke back. .jpg)
Jaramillo finished just behind Carlson in his win at Tampa Bay, but he's like to win this time around. Jordan Batchelor of Jacksonville, FL (2014) is currently in 3rd, but he will be challenged by the rest of the field on Sunday.

Senior Marika Lendl of Bradenton, FL, fired a 6 under par, 66 on Saturday to lead the Girls 13-18 division. Marika, playing her 3rd event this season, is looking to win here and fine-tune her game in preparation for the POLO. Marika, a 5th year FCWT player, has two top 3s on the season, but a win has eluded her thus far. She will have to hold off sister Isabelle (2009) who will start the final round 4 strokes back of her at 2 under par. Isabelle's 6 birdies were a bit offset by a double bogey on # 17. Catherine O'Donnell of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (2008) will start in 3rd place at 72, followed by Brighid Hourihan of Ponte Vedra Beach (2009), who led this division in pars with 15 on Saturday. Melissa Edmonson of Miami, FL (2010) will start in 5th place at 76.
Twelve year old Marianna Zanghetti of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (2013) is leading the Girls 11-14 division after an opening round of 90. |
