Sixteen year old Bobby Fredeking of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (2008) had a much sunnier outlook than the weather forecast at the end of his round. Sunny Florida was rather cloudy on Saturday, but Fredeking fired a 4 under par 68 to take the lead at the PGA Golf Club Open. Bobby's 5 birdies helped him to a 2 stroke advantage over FCWT newcomer Alex Disney of Jupiter, FL (2009). Disney carded a 2 under par round on Saturday and will begin the final round in 2nd place. Alex will have a one stroke advantage over Joey Garber of Vero Beach, FL (2010). Garber tied Fredeking for the most birdies on the day with 5 when he carded a one under par 71. These three will make up the final group on Sunday as they battle for the title. Kyle Stucklen of Sayville, NY (2008) will be in close pursuit as he starts the final round at even par. One stroke back of Stucklen is Namsub Padungsiriseth of North Augusta, SC (2009) who almost had a bogey-free round with his 73. Two players will start the final round in a tie for 6th at +2, 74: Brandon Heinkel of Boynton Beach, FL (2009) and Phil Lea of CANADA. Taylor Campbell of Argyle, TX (2009) and Sean Keller of West Islip, NY (2009) will start T8 at 75 while a group of 5 players will start T10 at +4, 76, including Joseph Marino of Weston, FL (2008), who carded the only eagle of the day in this division.
In the Boys 13-15 division, Austin Powell of Jupiter, FL (2011) also opened with a round of 4 under par 68 to lead his division. Powell, an FCWT newcomer, carded the only eagle in this division and led in birdies with 3 and tied for the most pars with 13 on Saturday. Fourteen year old Powell will start the final round with a 9 shot lead over Casey Matthews of Miami, FL (2010) who opened with a 77. Two players will start tied for 3rd at 79: Robert Smith of Osteen, FL (2010) and Mariano Villata of Miami, FL (2009). Fifteen year old Ben Fridrich of ISRAEL (2010) will start in 5th place after an opening round of 80.
Nine year old David Snyder of Austin, TX (2016) leads the youngest boys division by 5 strokes after an opening round of 78.
Laetitia Beck of Caesarea, ISRAEL (2010) fired a 4 under par 68 to lead all scores in the Laura Diaz Girls 13-18 division at the PGA Golf Club. Miss Beck led this division in birdies with 4 and had the only bogey-free round in the entire FCWT field at the PGA Golf Club Open. She will start the final round with a 3 stroke advantage over Marika Lendl of Bradenton, FL (2008). Miss Lendl, who finished T3 last weekend, led this division in pars with 15. The two will be paired with one of Marika's younger sisters, Isabelle Lendl (2009) who is currently T3. Isabelle is very capable of going low as both Miss Beck and sister Marika know - so the final round should be fun to watch. Tied with Isabelle for 3rd at 73 (+1) is Caramia Sitompul of Jakarta, INDONESIA (2009). Caramia will be paired in the next to last group with 11 year old Yueer ("Cindy") Feng of Orlando, FL (2014) and FCWT newcomer Monica Sealy of Trinidad (2011). Miss Feng and Miss Sealy are tied for 5th at 75 (+3). |
