Sean's Sunday Stadium 70

Senior Sean Dale of Jacksonville, FL, fired a finishing round of 2 under par 70 on the Stadium Course at Sawgrass to win the Boys 16-18 Invitational, his third win of the season.  Dale, a 4th year FCWT player, began Sunday's round tied for 5th place after an opening round of 75.  On Sunday, Dale came on strong carding 5 birdies, including one on the 18th hole, and posted a final round of 2 under par 70 at the renowned TPC Stadium Course.  In his first win of the 2007-08 season, Sean also carded a Sunday 70 at the World Golf Village Open; he then carded a final round of 69 when he won the Grand Cypress event in December.  So Sunday's final round of 70 which allowed him to finish at +1 for the event and earn his third victory of the season, are the norm for Sean, not the exception.  Performances like these are what make Dale, the 28th ranked player in the country in the Golfweek/Titleist Boys rankings.

Second place finisher Reid Martin of Mukilteo, WA (2009) put on an excellent performance of his own.  Martin, the 2007 FCWT Boys 13-15 Player of the Year, fired the Low Round for Sunday, a 69, 10 strokes better than his opening round.  Martin, who won the Boys 13-15 National Championship as well last season, has come on strong in the Boys 16-18 division.  He finished 2nd at the Mission Hills Invitational in December when he fired rounds of 65-70.  A win should be forthcoming in the near future.  Martin was also one of three players to card an eagle in the final round.  His came on the par 4, 4th hole.

Three players finished tied for 3rd:

Jason Burstyn of Miami, FL (2008), who fired a final round of 1 under par 71;

 Richard Lamb of South Bend, IN (2009), who began the day in 4th place after an opening round of 74; and Paul McNamara III of Palos Verdes Estates, CA (2009), who earned his second Top 5 in an Invitational, after finishing T4 at the Mission Hills Invitational in December.

Zhong Yang Fu of Beijing, CHINA (2010) carded a final round of 71 to finish in 6th place.  Four players finished tied for 7th at 151:  Phil Lea of Quebec, CANADA, who earned his 5th Top 10 of the season;  Rick Kittelstad of Lutz, FL (2008), who began the day tied for 9th; overnight leader Michael Cromie of Cary, NC (2010); and Gregory Della-Pietra of Stuart, FL (2008), who began the day tied for 2nd.

Other notable rounds were posted by

Corey Ziedonis of Indianapolis, IN (2009) who finished with a round of 72 that moved him to T11;  Jordan Rizzo of Sarasota, FL (2009), who improved his second round score by 14 strokes and finished with a 73;  two-time FCWT winner this season Oscar Sharpe of Cheltenham, ENGLAND (2010), who also carded a final round of 73; Cyril Suk of Bradenton, FL (2011) also with a final round of 73.

Ben Kohles of Cary, NC (2008) moved into the Top 20 with his final round of 74.
