Kristen Allard of Porterville, CA (2008) led all scores in the Girls 13-18 division of the Tahquitz Creek Open when she posted a 1 over par 72 on Saturday. Kristen led this division in birdies on Saturday with 5. Miss Allard, who finished 2nd at Coyote Creek in November, will be looking for her first FCWT win on Sunday when she tees it up with Paige Spiranac of Monument, CO (2011). Miss Spiranac, who won the Castle Pines event and has 4 other Top 5 finishes this season, opened with a round of 2 over par (74). The third member of the final pairing in this division will be Brittany Schlachter of Palm Desert, CA (2009) who posted a round of 75 on Saturday. Marguerite Swearingen of Livermore, CA (2011), led this division in pars with 12 and will begin the final round tied for 4th with Tarah Taylor of Mission Viejo, CA (2009).
Marshall Colby of Thousand Oaks, CA (2009) and Bruce Doucett, Jr. of Apple Valley, CA (2008) are co-leading the Boys 16-18 division at the Tahquitz Creek Open after Saturday's opening round. Each posted a solid round of even par 71 despite a struggle with the par 4 8th hole that resulted in a 7 for each. Colby, a much-improved second year FCWT player, finished 2nd at the Mission Inn Open in December after carding rounds of 69-71. On Sunday he will be looking for his first FCWT win. Doucett, who is playing in his first FCWT event, led this division in birdies with 5 on Saturday. Mason Klein of Santa Monica, CA (2009) and Andre Navarro of Turlock, CA (2008) will begin the final round tied for 3rd at 72 (+1). Both players are currently in their highest leaderboard standing of the season. Navarro led this division in pars on Saturday with 15. Sixteen year old Parker Houston of Rancho Santa Fe, CA (2010) is also performing well and will start the final round in 5th place. Houston, a 5th year FCWT player, is one we have watched "grow up" on tour and now stands at 6' 3". Four players will begin the final round tied for 6th at 74 (+3): Mario Clemens of Beverly Hills, CA (2009), Shuai Wu of Beijing, CHINA (2011), Chris Olmstead of Puyallup, WA (2009), and Tad Murray of La Quinta, CA (2010).
The Boys 13-15 division was heating things up today as Evan Markley of Scottsdale, AZ (2011) fired a 4 under par round that included 7 birdies to lead all scores. Right behind Markley was Macgregor Hoobery of Santa Maria, CA (2011) with a round of 3 under par. Fourteen year old Markley won the Grayhawk event at the end of December. Hoobery won the Coyote Creek event in November, so it should be a great final round. Austin Quick of Scottsdale, AZ (2011) will start in 3rd place at 73, just two strokes ahead of Jay Burlison of Salinas, CA (2013) who opened with a 75 and will start in 4th. Cameron Skreden of Sacramento, CA (2010), who led this division in pars with 13, will start in 5th place at 76.
Twelve year old Ben Doyle of San Diego, CA (2014) is leading the Boys 11-12 division for the third time in 6 weeks. Doyle already won the Mission Hills Open in December and then won at PGA West last weekend. On Saturday he carded a round of even par 71 to take the lead again. He will face formidable competition on Sunday as he goes for his 3rd win. Tyler Moore of Escondido, CA (2015) is only one shot back after an opening round of 72. Randy Ross of Phoenix, AZ (2014) will start the final round in 3rd place after opening with a 75. |
