Sharpe

O so Sharpe!

Luis Thiele of BRAZIL (2008) fired a 2 under par opening round at the Leadbetter Open at IMG Academies Golf & Country Club on Saturday.

Thiele

Thiele, a 2nd year FCWT player with two Top 3s this season, was looking for his first win on Sunday, but Oscar Sharpe of Cheltenham, ENGLAND (2010) had something else in mind. Sharpe, who had already won twice this season at the Tampa Bay Open in September and at the Waterchase Classic in October, decided his trophy case needed some new hardware. When you find out how many times in his young life Oscar has won, that may seem hard to believe. (Read More about Sharpe in Golfweek's feature article) On Sunday, Sharpe carded a round of one under par and once again found himself in the winner's circle by playing consistent golf. He joins Sean Dale of Jacksonville, FL (2008) as a three-time winner in the Boys 16-18 division of the FCWT this season. That's good company as Dale is currently ranked 14th in the Golfweek/Titleist rankings.

Khara

Rocky Khara of Sebring, FL (2010)who began the final round tied for 5th with Benjamin Murray of Toronto, CANADA (2009) at 73, just 3 strokes back of the leader, finished in 2nd place, matching Sharpe's final round of 71. Jake Shepherd of London, UK (2008), who began the day tied for 7th at 74 finished tied for 3rd with overnight leader Thiele. Shepherd, who also carded a final round of -1, led this division in pars for the weekend with 31. One other player carded a final round of -1 on Sunday. Richard Lamb of South Bend, IN (2009) moved into the top 10 with his sub-par final round. Yao-Chun Yang of Bradenton, FL (2009) and Benjamin Murray finished tied for 5th at 147. Cyril Suk of Bradenton, FL (2011), who won last weekend at Innisbrook, finished in 7th place. Benjamin Palanszki of Budapest, HUNGARY (2010), Seiji Liu of Beverly Hills, CA (2010), and Eduardo Chavez of Hillsborough, CA (2009) finished tied for 8th with Richard Lamb.

At the end of Saturday's round, Kevin Giulini of Frankfurt, GERMANY (2011) and Sean Kelly of Staten Island, NY (2011) were set to battle it out in the Boys 13-15 division. Both players opened with rounds of 75 on Saturday. Giulini, who led in birdies with 3 on Saturday, won last weekend at Innisbrook and Kelly, who led in pars on Saturday with 13, won in November at Champions Gate. On Sunday, just to make it interesting,

Torrance

Nicholas Torrance of East Lyme, CT (2010), who had finished runner-up twice this season and had not finished lower than 6th in 5 starts, decided to join them as the three were tied for 1st at 151 at the end of 36 holes. The three headed for a playoff beginning on hole # 1. The par 4, 399-yard challenge quickly removed

Kelly

Sean Kelly from the playoff as he made 5, while the other two made par. On the second and third playoff hole, Torrance and

Giulini

Giulini both made par. Then on the 4th playoff hole they both made bogey. Finally on the 5th playoff hole, Torrance regained his momentum from the final 18 holes of regulation and he made a three and a half foot putt for par to win the title.

Vaidis

Oliver Vaidis of Bradenton, FL (2012), who won the Mystic Dunes Open,is finished tied for 4th with Robbie Denove of Pittsburgh, PA (2010), who led this division in pars with 26, and James Yoon of Asuncion, PARAGUAY (2012), who won both the Naples Open and the Sawgrass event. Sawyer Huth of Calgary, AB, CANADA (2011), carded the only eagle in this division- an ACE on the par 3, 8th hole, using a 5 iron on Saturday.

Jaramillo

In the Boys 11-12 division, two-time FCWT winner 11 year old Daniel Jaramillo of COLOMBIA (2014) earned his third win of the season, leading wire-to-wire. Jaramillo, who won the World Golf Village Open and the ASU Open, carded an opening round of 75 to lead all scores. He followed that up with a round of 83 which came him a 4 stroke win over

Fernandes

11 year old Rigel Fernandes of Dubai, UAE (2013), who began the final round tied for 2nd. Jaramillo led this division in birdies with 5 for the event. Fernandes, who has earned two wins of his own this season, took home 2nd place.

Watson

Sally Watson of Earlsferry, SCOTLAND (2009) fired a 3 under par 69 at the IMG Academies Golf & Country Club to take the first round lead of the Leadbetter Open in the Girls 13-18 division. Sally, a 2nd year FCWT player, finished 2nd at the IMG Championship last April when she fired a closing round of 69. Earlier this season she finished 2nd at the World Woods event, but on Sunday she was looking for her first FCWT win and she found it. While she didn't shoot quite as well on Sunday, her 74 was enough to give her a one stroke win over

Ardina

Dottie Ardina of the Philippines (2012), who won the Eagle Creek event and finished 3rd at the ASU Open in December. Miss Ardina, who also carded a final round of 74, finished in 2nd place and earned her third top 3 of the season, finishing just one stroke ahead of

Kiser

Victoria Kiser of Orlando, FL (2010), who had 3 wins and 5 Top fives for the current season when she started the event, and

Korda

Jessica Korda of Bradenton, FL (2011), who won at Bobcat Trail and had two Top 5s prior to today's finish. Miss Kiser led this division in pars with 28 for the weekend while Giulia Molinaro of Torino, ITALY (2008), who won at Westchase and finished runner-up at Champions Gate, matched Miss Watson in birdies with 7 and finished in 6th place.

Howard

Ginger Howard of Bradenton, FL (2012), started the final round in a tie for 6th, but finished 5th after carding the Low Round on Sunday - an even par 72.

Liu
