Suk leads wire-to-wire to win 1st event of the season
Round One of the Innisbrook Open saw temperatures reach the mid-70s and fortunately play was completed prior to the arrival of predicted thunderstorms. The cold front that was expected overnight arrived and temperatures for Sunday's round never reached 60 degrees - cold for Florida this time of year. Temperatures on Monday warmed into the 60s, making play a little more comfortable.

FCWT veteran Cyril Suk of Bradenton, FL (2011) fired a 2 under par opening round on Saturday. Four birdies and only 2 bogeys on Saturday allowed Suk to enter the clubhouse with a one stroke advantage over two players tied for 2nd. On Sunday, Cyril carded an even par 71 to remain at -2 for the event. He entered the final round with a 2 stroke advantage over

Travis Ralph of Redington Beach, FL (2009). Ralph, began Sunday's round tied for 2nd with Weinand then carded a 72 to put himself at even par for the event.

Maxwell Campion of Brookline, MA (2009). Campion began Sunday's round tied for 4th with 4 other players but moved into 3rd with a round of 73. On Monday, Campion carded a 72 to hold his 2nd place position. He also led this division in pars for the weekend with 39.

Andrew Cho of Howey in the Hills, FL (2010) began round two in 8th place after an opening round of 72, but moved up to tied for 5th by the beginning of the final round. On Monday Cho carded a final round of 72 to move into 3rd place.

The Low Round on Monday went to Zachary Balit of Montreal, CANADA (2010), the only player to post a sub-par number on Monday. Balit's Low Round allowed him to finish 4th overall.

Ryan Black of Port St. Lucie, FL (2008), was tied for 9th at the end of round one. By the end of the second round he had moved up to tied for 5th. Following Monday's round, he had sole possession of 5th place. Black finished tied with Balit for the most birdies for the weekend - each player had 11.

Kevin Giulini of Frankfurt, GERMANY (2011), pulled away from the pack on Sunday and took a 5 stroke lead heading into Monday's final round. On Monday Guilini struggled, posting his highest round of the event, an 80, but had built himself enough of a lead that the title was never in jeopardy. He earned his first win of the season by a margin of 4 strokes over

Chad Merzbacher of Dublin, OH (2012). Chad started Sunday's round in 2nd place, one stroke back of the co-leaders and then found himself starting second again on Monday. Unfortunately for him, he could not catch Kevin (who led this division in pars with 39), but Chad did earn his 6th Top 5 of the season.

Peter French of Franklin, MA (2012) began the final round in 5th place, but finished in 3rd. Peter led this division in birdies with 7 for the weekend and also earned the Low Round honors for Monday's round. It was his first Top 3 of the season.

Karen Chung of Livingston, NJ (2013) at the end of round one. On Sunday, Doris carded a round of 79 which pushed her back to 4th place, 5 strokes back of Chung who was still leading the event. On Monday, Doris went out and fired the Low Round of the event in this division, a 71, and won her second event of the season. Miss Chen led this division in pars with 36 for the weekend and then won by two strokes over

Senior Alexis Holmes of West Chester, PA, who carded 2 eagles in this event. Miss Holmes was tied for 4th after Saturday's round. Following Sunday's round, she was in 2nd place and she was able to maintain that position on Monday. Twelve year old Chung finished in 3rd after struggling in the final round. Another 12 year old, Annie Park of Levittown, NY (2013) finished in 4th place. Gabrielle Balit of Montreal, CANADA (2009), who led this division in birdies with 7 for the weekend, finished in 5th place. |
