On Saturday, sixteen year old Marshall Talkington of Jackson, TN (2010) fired a bogey-free one under par on Saturday to take the lead in the Boys 16-18 division at the Mission Inn Las Colinas Open. Talkington, a 2nd year player, made 17 pars on Saturday to lead this division and began Sunday's round with a one stroke advantage over

Trent Hillis of Poplar Bluff, MO (2010). Hillis is a first year player, but was familiar with the FCWT as his older brother Tyler is a former player who now plays golf at the University of Missouri. Two players were tied for 3rd at +1 (73) after 18 holes:

Jan Ryba of the CZECH REPUBLIC and Cheng Tsung Pan of TAIWAN. Sixteen year old Pan already won once this season at the Naples Open as well as finishing 3rd at the Mission Hills Invitational. On Sunday Cheng fired the Low Round of 2 under par to earn his second win of the season. He led this division in pars with 28 for the weekend, making par or better 91.7% of the time. Hillis came on strong making birdie on his last two holes, but Cheng's birdie on # 16 was just enough to give him a one stroke advantage at the end of 36 holes. Ryba, who carded 7 birdies on the weekend, finished in 3rd place at 145. Fifteen year old Rocky Khara of Sebring, FL (2010), finished strong with a final round of 1 under par that moved him from tied for 5th to 4th place, his second top 5 in as many weeks. Lucas Leibel of Toronto, ON (2008), who carded the only eagle in this division on Saturday on the par 5 12th hole, finished in 5th place. Pablo Serna of COLOMBIA (2009), who matched Ryba with 7 birdies for the weekend, finished tied for 6th with overnight leader Talkington. Jordan Duffy of Calgary, AB finished in 8th place, two strokes ahead of Jason Del Rosso of Orlando, FL (2009) who began the day in 10th. Ryan Frederick of Lockport, IL (2009), Andrew Kim of Old Tappan, NJ (2010), and Kanhai Patel of Brasscharat, Belgium (2008).

On Saturday in the Boys 13-15 division, fourteen year old Tanapol Vattanapisit of Rayong, THAILAND (2011) carded a round of even par to lead by one over

James Yoon of Asuncion, PARAGUAY (2012). On Sunday Tanapol made sure to earn his first win of the season by firing a bogey-free round of 5 under par 67 and finish 7 strokes ahead of Yoon, who has won twice this season so far, Naples and Sawgrass. Tanapol kept Yoon, who is leading the Boys 13-15 points race, from becoming the first 13-15 player with 3 wins. Joshua Lee of Orange Park, FL (2013) who won at Sea Island last weekend, began the day in 6th place at 78, then carded a round of -1 (71), the second lowest of the day to finish in 3rd place at 149. Brandon Baerwaldt of Bradenton, FL (2010), and Jason Zhou of Skillman, NJ (2011) finished T4 at 152.

In the Boys 11-12 division, Rigel Fernandes of Dubai, UAE (2013) led wire-to-wire with rounds of 79-75 and earned his third win of the season by a 15 stroke margin. Eleven year old Rigel carded 21 pars for the weekend to lead in that statistical category. Timmy Hanzelko of Longwood, FL (2014), who began the final round in 3rd place, finished in 2nd at 169. Twelve year old Lucas Schlossberg of ARGENTINA (2014) moved from 2nd to 3rd on Sunday, his second top 3 of the season.
Christina Miller from Ackworth, GA (2010) took the first round lead at the Mission Inn Las Colinas Open and never looked back. Miss Miller, who attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, carded a one over par 73 on Saturday to lead the Girls 13-18 division. Her three birdies led the way and afforded her a one stroke lead heading into Sunday's final round. But Christina wasn't resting on her laurels. On Sunday, she fired the Low Round of 2 under par to win by 3 strokes over 12 year old Karen Chung of Livingston, NJ (2013). Karen began the final round tied for 2nd place with Taylor Schmidt of Kincardine, ON, CANADA (2009) at 74, then carded a final round of 72 to finish all alone in 2nd place. Miss Chung led this division in pars with 28 while Christina led in birdies with 6. Monica Miller of Davie, FL (2008), carded a final round of 73 to finish in 3rd place, one stroke ahead of Miss Schmidt who finished 4th. Twelve year old Annie Park of Levittown, NY (2013), earned her third top 5 finish of the season, finishing one stroke ahead of Susana Benavides of BOLIVIA (2009). Thirteen year old Ying Yun of CHINA, who carded the only eagle in this division with a hole-in-one on the 11th hole on Saturday, finished tied for 7th with Joana de sa Pereira of Cannes, FRANCE (2010).
Wagner wins by 5 with a final round of 74
In the Girls 14 and under division, Samantha Wagner of Easton, PA (2015) came from two strokes back of Sofia Molinaro of Torino, ITALY (2012)and fired a final round of 74 to win her 2nd event of the season. Miss Wagner carded 4 birdies for the weekend as did Gudrun Peturndottir of ICELAND (2013), who began the final round tied for 3rd, but finished all alone in 2nd place. |
