Fourth year FCWT player Jace Long of Dixon, MO (2008) leads the field at the Purdue Open after carding the only sub-par round on Saturday in the Boys 16-18 division. Long, who has never won on the FCWT, will be looking for a win on Sunday as he tries to hold off second year player David Erdy of Boonville, IN (2008), who finished T12 at this event last season. Erdy's opening round of 72 puts him all alone in second, with a one stroke advantage over FCWT newcomer Matt Gorman of Waunakee, WI (2009). Gorman tied long and 4 other players for the most pars on the day with 13. Another player who carded 13 pars was Nate McCoy of West Des Moines, IA (2008), who is currently in 4th place at 74. Also carding 13 pars and currently tied for 5th are Barrett Kelpin of Kalamazoo, MI (2008) and Michael Sorenson of Hartland, WI (2009). They are tied with Corey Ziedonis of Indianapolis, IN (2009) and Zachary Henderson of Goshen, IN (2008), all four players are at +3, 75. Five players are tied for 9th at +4, 5 shots from the leaders: Anthony Aicher of Wausau, WI (2009), Jacob Lammert of Hartland, WI (2008), John Pavelko of Chanhassen, MN (2009), Drew Preston of Grand Rapids, MI (2008) and Alex Walker of Carmel, IN (2008).

Sorenson, along with 2 other players, led this division in birdies with 4. He finished 7th in this event last season, but will be looking for the win tomorrow. Michele Nash of Indianapolis, IN (2008), finished 4th at this event last season. She is tied with FCWT newcomer Milena Savich of Carmel, IN (2008).
