On Saturday Yao-Chun "Michael" Yang (2009) opened the World Woods Open with a bang.  Yang fired an opening round of 3 under par 69 that included a string of 6 birdies from # 17 (his 8th hole) to # 4.  On Sunday, Stanislav Matus of CZECH REPUBLIC (2008) who began the day tied for 2nd and two strokes back went home with the win.  Matus, who finished 3rd here last season, carded a final round of 73 to win by 1 stroke over FCWT newcomer Benjamin Martin of TRINIDAD (2008).  Martin 's final round of 1 under par came up just short of forcing a playoff, as he made par on the final 4 holes of play.  Zachary Plutzik of New York, NY (2007) and Luis Thiele of BRAZIL (2008), who began the day tied with Matus, finished tied for 3rd at 146.  Marcel Puyat of PHILIPPINES (2011) earned the Low Round honors and finished tied for 5th with Benjamin Palanski of HUNGARY (2010), who won this event last year at the 13-15 level with rounds of 69-68.  Overnight leader Yang finished tied for 7th with Roy Steinberg of ISRAEL (2008), who began the day tied for 10th.  William Lane of Ocala, FL (2009) finished in 9th place at 149 after a final round of 1 under par.  Three players finished T10:  Steven Loer of Sarasota, FL (2008), Shang Zhi of Bradenton, FL (2010), and Andrew Kim of Old Tappan, NJ (2010)

Andrew Gain of Bradenton, FL (2009) carded the Low Round for his division for the 2nd day in a row on his way to his first FCWT title.

Gain, accumulated 8 birdies on his trip around the course on Saturday and fired a 66 to lead all scores.  He began the final round with a 6 shot advantage over 13 year old Chad Merzbacher of Dublin, OH (2012), who opened with a solid round of even par.  Merzbacher, who was named a 2006-07 FCWT All-American, carded a Sunday round score of 75 and earned 2nd place.  Two strokes back of Merzbacher was twelve year old Joshua Lee of Orange Park, FL (2013), a third year FCWT player.  Lee was named the Player of Promise from the Boys 11-12 division last season after winning 4 times during the regular season, then went on to win the Boys National Championship at that level.  Lee finished at +5, 11 strokes back of Gain who now has two Top 2 finishes in 2 FCWT events.

In the Boys 11-12 division, James Leadbetter of Orlando, FL (2013) led wire-to-wire to win his first FCWT event.  Leadbetter who fired a 2 under par 70 on Saturday to lead all scores, followed up with a round of 80, to earn his first FCWT title by 7 strokes.  Leadbetter's round was also the Low Round of the day for this division - one stroke better than 2nd place finisher Ryan Stovash, also of OrlandoStovash led this division in pars with 19 for the weekend, while Leadbetter led in birdies with 10 on the weekend.  Eleven year old Gavin deFisser of Gilbert, AZ (2015), a 3rd year player who won the ASU Open last season, finished in 3rd place at 161.


Maria Imelda Isabel Piccio of the PHILIPPINES (2009) fired a 2 under par round on Sunday to earn the Title at the World Woods Open

On Saturday Sally Watson of Earlsferry, SCOTLAND (2009) led all scores in the the 21 player Girls 13-18 division of the World Woods Open with a round of 2 under par 70.  She began Sunday's round with a 2 stroke advantage over two players tied for 2nd:  Cyna Rodriguez of Manila, PHILIPPINES (2009) and Maria Imelda Isabel Piccio, also of the PHILIPPINES (2009)Miss Piccio carded 7 birdies for the event to tie both overnight leader Sally Watson and Daniela Lendl for most birdies in this division.  Miss Watson finished 2nd at 143, just one stroke back of Miss PiccioElisa Aoki of Japan (2009) fired a final round of 69 (-3) to earn the Low Round Honors and finish in a tie for 3rd place with Miss Rodriguez.  For Miss Rodriguez it was her second Top 3 of the season after finishing 2nd at Tampa in September.  Susana Benavides of Cochabamba, BOLIVIA (2009) led this division in pars with 28 on her way to a tie for 5th with Laetitia Beck of ISRAEL (2010), who won the PGA Club Open in September and Andrea Watts of Bradenton, FL (2008), the 2006-07 FCWT Girls East Region Player of the Year.
