Frankenberg's First Win

ross f

Seventeen year old Ross Frankenberg of Barrington, IL (2009) fired an opening round of two under par 70 to lead all scores in the Boys 16-18 division of the Inverrary Open. Frankenberg carded 3 birdies and only one bogey on Saturday while he led this division in pars with 14. He began the final round with a 4 stroke advantage over Ryan Booth of Homestead, FL (2008).

On Sunday, Frankenberg, who has never found himself atop the leaderboard in an FCWT event, may have been a bit nervous. After nine holes he was +2. But on the back nine, he seemed to settle into his game and earned back those two strokes to finish at even par for the day and two under for the event. Thus earning his first FCWT title in 8 tries. With it he earns an invitation to the FCWT National Championship and exempt status for the remainder of the season. Ross led this division in pars with 28 for the weekend and finished 7 strokes ahead of his nearest competitor.
