Eure fires a 1 under par ~ holds off a charge from Mark Mumford to win the Title

On Saturday, Joshua Eure of Crofton, MD (2009) led the 40 player boys 16-18 field with a round of even par 72.  Eure had 8 birdies on the day, twice as many as the next best player.   Eure began Sunday's round looking for his first FCWT win in his first event at the 16-18 level.  He had a 1 stroke advantage over FCWT veteran player Robert Robertson of Philadelphia, PA (2008). Robertson also have liked to win his first FCWT event on Sunday, but for Robertson, it was not to be this time around.  For Eure, it was.

On Sunday, Eure carded a one under par 71 to tie hard-charging Mark Mumford of Rye, NY (2009) for the Low Round Honors.  Mumford was a 2006-07 1st Team All-American at the 13-15 level last season.  His final round gave him 3rd place on Sunday.  Eure, meanwhile, led the field in birdies with 11 on the weekend, on his way to 1st place.  Finishing in 2nd place was veteran Ryan Blair of Center Valley, PA (2009) who carded a final round of even par 72.  Gene Yang of East Brunswick, NJ (2009) finished tied for 4th with Robert Robertson and Brian Murphy of Wilton, CT (2009) who started in 8th place, but carded a final round of 74 to move up the board.  Mike Miller of Brewster, NY (2010), playing in his first FCWT event, finished T7 with Cory Siegfried of Villanova, PA (2008).  David Brown of Phillipsburg, NJ (2009) finished in 9th place at 154 and Ken Jee of Bethesda, MD (2008), playing in his first FCWT event, finished in 10th.

After Saturday's round in the Boys 13-15 division, Zachary Herr of New Hope, PA (2013), and Harry Higgs of Overland Park, KS (2010) were tied for the lead at 75.  Herr, who led this division in birdies with 4 on Saturday, struggled a bit on Sunday and fell back to third.  Meanwhile Higgs, who had three top 5 finishes last season in 3 starts, came on stronger on Sunday with a final round of 73, to earn both Low Round honors and take home the title. Sean Elliott of Westfield, NJ (2011), who began the day tied for 3rd at 78, finished in 2nd place after a final round of 75 to finish at 153. Edward McCrossen of Ambler, PA (2010) and Samuel Hockfield of Gladwyne, PA (2010) finished tied for 4th place at 158.  Jacob Pilarski's final round of 75 allowed him to finish 6th.  Pilarski is from Buffalo, NY and part of the class of 2009.

Consistency:  Key for Guise

 Danny Guise of Greenwich, CT (2013) was co-leading the Boys 11-12 division after Saturday's Round One.  He and John Morissey of White Plains, NY (2013) both opened with rounds of 78 (+6).  They began the final round with a 6 stroke advantage over C.J. Wagner of Easton, PA (2013).  On Sunday, Guise played his game and carded his second consecutive round of 78 to win by 9 strokes while 2nd, 3rd and 4th were only separated by 4 strokes.  Morissey took home 2nd place at 165, followed by Michael Davis of Newtown Square, PA (2014) who finished 3rd at 168.

Christie Tallent of Haverford, PA (2008) began the final round tied with Caroline Sweet of Bowie, MD (2008) at 79 (+7), but on Sunday, Miss Tallent distanced herself from the field with a final round of 74.  Miss Tallent, who led this division in pars with 11 on Saturday, finished with 20 pars and 5 birdies for the event.  Both were the best in the field.  She also earned Low Round honors on Sunday, along with her first FCWT title.

Laura Reynolds of West Chester, PA (2008) who began the day in 6th place after an opening round of 84, carded the second best round on Sunday (76) to finish in 2nd place in her first event of the season.  Caroline Sweet of Bowie, MD (2008) finished in 3rd place in her first FCWT event.  Four players finished tied for 4th:  Jacqueline Evans of Wayne, PA (2008) who began the day in 2nd place, Lauren Smith of Crofton, MD (2009) who began the final round in 4th place at 81, Kelly Shon of Port Washington, NY (2010) who began in 5th at 82 and 13 year old Brogan McKinnon of Mississauga, ON, CANADA, who improved her second round score by 6 strokes to move up the leaderboard.
