Tanaporn "tears up" the Course - wins at 7 under par

Tanaporn Kongkiatkrai of Bangkok, THAILAND (2011) fired a 6 under par 66 to lead all scores on Saturday.  A bogey-free round that included 6 birdies certainly gave her something to smile about.  Tanaporn had two Top 5 finishes already this season, but was looking for her first win on Sunday, and she found it.  She began the final round with a 6 stroke advantage, she knew there were some very capable competitors in the field.  Shannon Pak of New Orleans, LA (2011) and

Sally Watson of Earlsferry, SCOTLAND (2009) are both 3rd year FCWT players playing in their first event of the season. Miss Watson, who led this division in pars on Saturday with 16, had a win and a 2nd place finish last season and is currently ranked # 26 in the Golfweek/Titleist rankings.  Miss Watson did fire the Low Round on Sunday with a 3 under par 69, but it wasn't enough to overtake the lead the Tanaporn built on Saturday.  Tanaporn posted a final round of 1 under par to finish at 7 under par for the event and earn her first FCWT title as well as an exemption to the National Championship.

Miss S. Pak's final round of 73 allowed her to finish in 3rd place, 2 strokes ahead of 2006 Champion of this event Jessica Korda of Bradenton, FL (2011).

Benjamin Palanszki of Budapest, HUNGARY (2010) began the final round of the Naples Open in a three-way tie for 3rd place after an opening round of 72.  Palanszki, who won the Tampa Bay Open in September, did not start in the final group of the day.  Instead, overnight leader

Daniele Cabriles of Valencia, VENEZUELA (2009), who fired a 3 under par 69 during the opening round, was paired with

Eduardo Chavez of Hillsborough, CA (2009) who was in 2nd place at the end of Round One, and

Gerardo Alvarez of EL SALVADOR (2009), one of the players tied with Palanszki after Saturday's round.   Palanszki teed off in the next to the last group of the day with

Robert Meador of Miami Lakes, FL (2009) and

Brandon Liu of Bradenton, FL (2011).  Palanszki played his game, carded another solid round of even par and won his second event of the season.  Brant DeLongy of Winter Park, FL (2009) carded the Low Round on Sunday with a 2 under par 70 that allowed him to finish in a tie for 4th place.  Alvarez finished in 2nd place, two strokes back of Palanszki.  Overnight leader Cabriles took home third place at 147.  Sebastian Fernandez, Sebastian Vazquez and Eduardo Chavez finished tied for 4th with DeLongy.

Congratulations to Marek Siwy of Prague, CZECH REPUBLIC (2009) who carded an ace on the 7th hole on Sunday.

In the Boys 13-15 division

At the end of Saturday's final round 13 year old Ian Mankoff of Lake Forest, IL (2013) was in a three-way tie for 2nd place after an opening round score of 76.  On Sunday, Ian posted the Low Round, a 75, and won his first FCWT title.  Ian tied Prem "Ben" Samritpricha of THAILAND (2012) for the most birdies in this division (6).

Kevin Liu of Bradenton, FL (2012) posted a second consecutive round of 76 to take home 2nd place, his first Top 3 of the season.  Overnight leader

Twelve year old Peter Mathison of Jupiter, FL (2014), playing in his first FCWT event, finished tied for 3rd place with

Eric Hallberg of Castle Rock, CO (2012).
