Future Collegians World Tour

Final day, hard to believe, but here we are at the end of a great week. Tee-times were earlier but the pace of play was still at the 6 hour mark. I will explain that to those who are interested at another time.

Well the task at hand was a tough one. The Koreans girls, Korean boys and English boys were not going to give up any ground to us if they could help it. Good weather again, the wind had changed to the opposite direction, but it was not really a strong breeze, just enough to make you “double think” your club selection.
Here are the results:
Girls
Danielle Kang had a great day scoring the first and only under par round for the USA with a 35 + 34 = 69 and a fifth place finish. (10 shots out of first place of 213)
Daniela Lendl was steady all day with no real fireworks and finished with 37 + 39 = 76 for a T8 finish.
Lauren Salazar struck the ball a little better and shot 37 + 39 = 76 for a 10th place finish.
The team competition was won by the Korean team who also finished 1st, 2nd & 3rd individually
Korea 142 = 426
USA 145 = 450
Japan 154 = 469
The Korean girls were so dominant the entire week!   Today was our girls best day.

Boys
Brandon Hagy played steady as he did all week, ball striking was great from tee to green, unfortunately his putter did not make the flight and held him back from going really low. That is golf though and I feel sorry for all those that play against him when his whole game shows up. He shot 35 + 36 for 71 and T7. He also got the low American trophy.
Raymond Gillip, solid all week, came out firing, birdied 1 then 2, then lipped out on 3. He ended up with 34 + 38 for 72 and T12. Ray's collegiate career will be solid.
Reid Martin, played in the final group and struck the ball the best he has all week. He set himself up for numerous chances and the putter did not join the party. He finished with 35 + 40 for 75. Good for T12
Sam Saunders did not have his usual stuff this week. He so desperately wanted to help his team but just could not get it going. Most would throw the towel in and try again the following week. Sam came back today with a 72 shooting 36 + 36 = 72 and good for T22. Well done, Sam!
The team competition was a close one.
England 211 = 646
Korea 214 = 650
USA 215 = 663
Japan 222 = 677.
What you don't know at home is that the teams we played are the National teams of their respective countries. They have been groomed and trained for these international events from a young age. They are basically the best players in their country. Our group met some of their team mates for the first time this week, had a great time together, had a great time with all the other players and can go home with their heads held high.
See you back in the states soon enough as we embark on the longest Monday of our lives tomorrow.
Cheers
Hugo Mazzalupi
